The military's Extended Cold
Weather Clothing System is designed to keep you warm in a range of
conditions,
whether you are active
and on the move or hunkering down and waiting for a deer to show itself. They
are designed
for rain, sleet, snow and
other adverse conditions across a range ot temperatures.
The
system achieves this by combing the age-old principal of dressing in layers
with high-tech materials.
To
achieve maximum effectiveness, you need to start with polypropylene thermals
on the inside, have a middle layer,
and
a water- and wind-proof outer layer. The three or more layers work together to
wick moisture away
from
the skin to prevent you from getting a chill if you stop moving after working
up a sweat.
These
ECWCS parkas and pants for the exterior layer of the military's Extended Cold
Weather Clothing System.
They
are made from Hyvatt, a material similar to GORE-Tex, and have micropores to
allow vapor from your
perspiration
exit while remaining wind, water and weather proof. This unique action allows
the parka and pants
to
provide warmth over a range of temperature conditions and exertion levels.
The
result is a surprisingly light weight jacket that is excellent for keeping you
warm, especially when layered with other
pieces
of the ECWCS system.
